The CEO of Equity Health Insurance, Dr Elton Fredrick Afari has been named as the Outstanding CEO of the Year in the Health Insurance Category at the Ghana West Africa Healthcare Excellence Awards.
The event which took place on March 27, 2026 at Marriott Hotel celebrated his consistent track record of delivering results with speed and precision, attributes that have distinguished him from his peers and earned him the admiration of colleagues, partners, and industry stakeholders alike.
According to the award scheme, “His leadership style reflects fairness, accountability, and a deep sense of responsibility qualities that continue to set the standard for healthcare leadership in Ghana.”

Dr Afari’s recognition stems from his exemplary leadership at Equity Health Insurance, where he has spearheaded initiatives to expand access to quality healthcare services across Ghana. Under his guidance, the company has seen significant growth, introducing innovative insurance plans tailored to various demographics and investing in technology to streamline services.

The award adds to Dr Afari’s accolades, including CEO of the Year in the Private Health Insurance 2025 at the Ghana CEO Awards , Equity Health Insurance being named the Best Growing Private Health Insurance Company of the Year at the 7th Ghana Insurance Awards in 2024, Equity Health Insurance named Outstanding Health Insurance Brand of the Year at the 2026 Ghana West Africa Healthcare Excellence Awards
Dr Afari holds a Doctorate Degree in Marketing from the Nobel International Business School in Accra, Ghana in partnership with IPHD Business School in France, and has been recognized for his contributions to entrepreneurship and mentorship in the healthcare sector.
